Hi! My name is David (Dave) Sabot, and I am the owner of Dave's Humidors (CheapHumidors.com).
I started selling humidors in 1997, just a few years after I graduated from college. You see, my brother gave me a few really good cigars and told me to put them in a humidor for storage.
I never heard of a humidor before, and when I went to the local cigar store, I was shocked to see how much they were selling for. I mean, I was a poor kid right out of college, and certainly couldn't afford a $400 box to store a few cigars in.
That is when it hit me. There must be a bunch of people like me, who have cigars and can't afford to store them anywhere. Thus, the idea of Cheap Humidors was formed.
Now keep in mind, this was the beginning of the internet as we know it. Amazon just went public with a $17 IPO price. Nobody was really selling humidors online.
I searched high and low and finally found a supplier of a nice humidor that I could purchase for $45. The quality was great, and it was super cheap. I mentioned it on a cigar forum, and within a week I had somebody send me a check for their own humidor. A few days later another check arrived, then another. I knew I was on to something.
Over the years, I expanded my product offerings to all things cigar related, like cutters, lighters, ashtrays, etc. Throughout it all, I made sure I personally tested each item to ensure the quality was good, and the pricing was great.
Of course, other players started to enter the market once they realized how successful I was supplying the everyday cigar smoker with affordable merchandise. One thing never changed, however. I always made sure we educated customers on our products, how to use them, and everything cigar related.
I invite you now to take a look at my site. Check out all the products, videos, blog articles, reviews, etc. If you ever have a question or just need cigar advice, let us know. We will be sure to help you out.
Your friend,
Dave
PS - Check out some of the original articles written about me below. I was 20+ years younger, and 30 pounds lighter, but just as happy :)
