Chillin’ Moose Cigar Construction

Formed in 2013, Foundry Tobacco Company is a subsidiary of General Cigar devoted to experimental blending projects. I like to think of it as a giant playground for blenders. One of their most popular blends is the Chillin’ Moose. This bad boy is filled with a mind boggling mix of tobaccos: Nicaraguan, Dominican, US Broadleaf, and Mexican San Andres. Yes, you read correctly, they used US Broadleaf and Mexican San Andres leaves for fillers, because, why not?! Those delightful fillers are bound with an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf and wrapped in a Habano Rosado leaf. The length of the stick is mostly plump with a few noticeable soft spots. The double cap is a bit off center but cuts cleanly using a punch cutter.

Flavor & Aroma

The wrapper leaf gives off the gentle aroma salt and earth while the foot lends a spicy-sweet scent. The cold draw is a bit tight but produces gentle flavors of rock salt and new vegetation with a slight hint of black pepper. Once lit, the flavor profile is slightly spicy with plenty of rich, dark earth, leather, and salt.

Burn & Smoking Characteristics

Foundry’s Chillin’ Moose draws beautifully, producing tons of smoke. The burn is slow and steady, with a total smoking time of just over an hour. The burn line is gorgeous and remains straight.

Conclusion of the Chillin’ Moose Cigar

I love this stick and with its ridiculously low price point, it is a great “everyday” smoke.
