Well i got this Cigar Oasis Excel 3.0 for 2 month now and i can say it's a must have for your box. The humid is steady. Well i recommend to use other digital hygrometer to verify and adjust the COE 3.0 to be exact. it is very quiet, small and handy. I used in two boxes - wooden one and a cigar fridge humidor. In both once the unit is set/calibrated, it works perfect. Just get one and get rid off any other humidifying solution. Although the temp indicator is not perfect - the sensor is near the processor, the fact the unit don't relay on this sensor to work accurate it's not a bit of disappointment. The COE 3.0 can be calibrated very easy with a third party digital hygrometer, Boveda pack, and a plastic bag.
After all - don't miss this humidifier!
So far so good! I've had my Cigar Oasis Excel for a few weeks now and it's working like a champ. I'm using it in the bottom of my Chancellor humidor that my wife purchased for me for Christmas a few years ago from CheapHumidors. I noticed that a significant amount of humidity isn't working it's way to the top of the humidor (5%), and that's partially due to its construction. The bottom of the unit, which is large enough to house two full boxes of cigars, is where the CO lives and it reads 68% RH (which is my set point), and the top tray reads 63%, which is verified by an accurate Caliber 4R hydrometer. The humidor has two cigar trays in it that fit snuggly into the unit, which prevents free air flow. I absolutely love this humidor and it holds RH beautifully, but to distribute the moisture evenly, I charged the two Credo-style humidifiers that came with the unit with distilled water and placed one on the middle shelf and the other on the top shelf, and voila! Perfectly balanced reading of 68% throughout my 300 count humidor.
Personally, I would NOT expect these machines to arrive perfectly calibrated like the manufacture suggests. Don't rely on their statement that these are all accurately calibrated at the factory because that's rarely true. But these are very easy to recalibrate as long as they're not off by too much (plus or minus 9 percent). My unit was only off by 2 points. It read 72% RH when it was actually 70%. I highly recommend that before you put one of these into your humidor you first place it into a larger style Tupperware container along with an accurate hydrometer. Program the set point on the CO to 70% RH, then seal the lid on the container. Once the CO says it has reached 70% RH, check it against your trusted hydrometer and adjust the unit accordingly. Now you'll have a very accurate machine that you can rely on. Oh, and by the way, expect the temperature to be off by 3 degrees because the sensor is next to the processor which creates a small amount of heat. My CO reads 72 degrees when my other two thermostats say its actually 69. --Alex
I love the way it keeps the humidity spot on. I have it paired with an Audew 300 Cigar cooler humidor and it's working great. I am curious to see how the alerting will work in the app for low water in the Oasis Excel but the data from the app seems spot and handy.
The Oasis Excel 3.0 is a very good humidifier. Easy setup, holds accurately at approx 70 digress. The only issue I have had is connecting to it via the app. Oasis service has been very helpful
