I tried to convince myself that Kentucky was not going to win the National Championship. I even played the whole “would you take Kentucky or any other team in the field to win it?” By the way yes I would take the field against them, but I am just not sure which team they will come across that matches up even closely. They have size, a deep bench, strength inside, and NBA talent at all positions on the floor. I think that Kentucky would beat the NY Knicks in a 5 game series.
I was watching ESPN’s Bracketology show and they were interviewing John Calipari. So one of the first questions they asked him was why he and his team did not cut down the nets at the SEC tournament? Which as you know is a well known college basketball tradition for winning a championship. So in classic Calipari form, he goes “do you want an honest answer?” Of course the ESPN announcer goes, “No John I would like you to lie to my face”… which of course created a set full of laughter. Then Calipari says “to be completely honest we forgot to do it.” How good are you when you “forget” to take part in one of the oldest traditions in college basketball. I am not betting against that team.
So before you start saying, well Drew that was an easy pick to win it, who are your other Final Four Teams? I will leave you guessing no more. Of course I have Kentucky coming out of the Midwest. I have Arizona winning the West, Virginia coming out of the East, and Gonzaga winning the South. I did pick a few upsets in the first round like Eastern Washington over Georgetown, Georgia over Michigan St., and Georgia St over Baylor. You can check out the rest of picks in my one and only bracket that I filled out just for you guys.
Good luck and don’t forget to enter to win the Cult humidor. Someone is going to win it, it might as well be you.
