Congratulations to the Duke Blue Devils on being the 2015 NCAA Basketball Champions!
Well it looks like Coach K is at it again. With their victory on Monday over Wisconsin, Duke and Coach K were awarded their fifth National championship in school history. Duke trailed Wisconsin for most of the second half but made a great run late in the game, lead by freshman guards Tyus Jones and Grayson Allen. Allen scored 16 points off the Duke bench, and Jones had 23 points. Tyus Jones also was Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
After the game, all credit goes to his players according to Coach K. “My team had great grit and determination. Our defense down the stretch was magnificent.” He was right, although they did not stop Kaminsky as he had a monster game, but Duke was able to contain the rest of the Badger threat. So once again congratulations to Duke on another championship.
With all that being said, the game everyone cannot stop talking about was Wisconsin beating previously undefeated Kentucky 71-64 in the semi-final game preceding the finals with Duke.
When Sam Dekker hit a three over Willie Cauley-Stein with two minutes left to break a 60-all tie, you could tell Wisconsin was going to play the role of the ultimate spoiler. Some say Kentucky’s team could have competed in the NBA this year and made the playoffs. Another big surprise in the Final Four was Michigan St making a great run for Coach Tom Izzo. Michigan St was not as talented as most years and Coach Izzo was still able to get a Final Four run out of that team. Most analysis said this was his best coach job even though they did not win it all.
Contest Winner Announcement!
Now for what everyone is waiting to find out, who won this year’s Cheaphumdiors.com NCAA Final Four contest.
The winner of the Cult 200 Humidor is Frederick Stevens!
Although I must tell you there was some debate on whether or not to give him the victory. He correctly predicted, Duke winning the championship along with Kentucky and Wisconsin to be in the Final Four.
The problem is when he filled out his entry he put Michigan, not Michigan St. Being I am the commissioner of the contest, I had to make the final call. I can clearly see that was a typo. Michigan was not even in the tournament this year and getting the other 3 teams correctly means he had the correct region that Michigan St would have come out of.
Congratulations Frederick, I will be in contact with you to arrange your prize to be ship out.AJ’s Smokin’ Sports Corner: 2015 NCAA Basketball Champions by Drew Brannen
