Hi I’m Kayla with Cheaphumidors.com and today I’m going to tell you a little bit about our imperfect humidors. We have a whole section on our website that is dedicated just to our imperfect humidors, and it’s important that you understand what we mean when we say that an item is “imperfect.”
These humidors come to us from damage claims, direct from the manufacturers, or from accidents out in the warehouse. It can be anything from a nick, to a ding, to a scratch, or the whole corner can be missing finish; anything like that. It can be something simple like this one, where the manufacturer put the plastic bag on the humidor too soon after clear coating it, so you see these little striations in the clear coat.
Or it could be something like this one, where our engraver spelled a name wrong. We can’t sell it to the customer, but it still holds humidity. It just has somebody else’s engraving on it. Now during the summer months (we’re in Florida), we have tons of storms and we’re constantly losing power. If we lose power during an engraving, we end up with a partial engraving print, and this will come to you as an imperfect.
It can also be things like this one, where we’re missing a tray because we sent it out for a replacement. So it’s missing a tray, a divider, and it can be missing a key. Anything on the inside that doesn’t actually produce humidity, it can be missing.
What we don’t mean is a completely destroyed unit. This one is not something we would sell as an imperfect because it’s completely destroyed and the seal is no longer intact, so it can’t maintain humidity.
So these are great items if you have too many cigars for your current humidor and you just want one for all of your extra sticks that you’re going to put in your closet. It’s great for flavoring your cigars or anything like that. It’s not good for a display piece or if you’re giving it as a gift. You want to move away from these ones because they’re not going to be perfect. They can have anything from a nick, ding, or scratch up to all of the issues; it’s damaged, it’s engraved, and it’s missing items. However, it will always maintain a seal.
