If you and/or your soon to be spouse are cigar smokers and you have invited fellow cigar smokers to your wedding, what better way to celebrate than offering cigars at your wedding! While the idea seems simple enough, there are several details that should be thought out to ensure a pleasurable experience for everyone. Here’s some tips on how to serve cigars at your wedding.
The first detail will be the venue. Do they have a suitable indoor or outdoor area that will allow an enjoyable smoking experience? What kind of tables, carts, trays or humidors can you use for your cigar bar? Roughly how many cigar smokers will you have in attendance?
What type of cigar(s) will you offer? If you have many experienced cigar smokers, you may want a medium to full bodied and medium to full strength blend. If you feel there will be many novice smokers joining in, you may want to tone down the blend. If possible, you may decide to offer a variety of blends so that a variety of smokers can be accommodated. Also, will you offer “big name” premium cigars from a box, an assortment of cigars served from a box or humidor, or will you contract with a local cigar roller for fresh, hand rolled cigars?
Now that you have the space and cigars sorted out, what else is needed? The required accessories can make or break this portion of the party. You’ll need enough ashtrays, cutters, cigar matches or lighters to support the number of cigar smokers you expect to partake in cigar smoking. This is another opportunity to personalize the experience. You can have any of these items personalized with your names and wedding date if you desire.
During the wedding celebration, you and your spouse will probably be very busy with all of the wedding traditions and photographs, so who would actually serve the cigars? You may have a staff member from the venue take care of things such as assisting with cutting and lighting cigars for people that do not normally smoke. Or, there are people that offer “turn key” solutions and can integrate cigar smoking into your wedding celebration with a minimal effort on your part. No matter how you serve cigars at your wedding, remember that the experience should be enjoyable for everyone, including you and your spouse. How to Serve Cigars at Your Wedding by Tom Ufer
