Hello Youtubez! I’m Ted, the guy hiding behind your computer screen pushing all the cool content you see in front of you. Actually, my interns do all the pushing. I just hold the megaphone. That annoying newsletter you see in your inbox every week? That was my doing. That cheesy Facebook post? Also me. That sarcastic voice on /r/cigars? Yep. Me (or Kayla – we take turns).
My average day at the CheapHumidors.com headquarters consists of daydreaming about lunch, drinking all of Drew’s Pepsis, and making horrible puns that I think are hilarious. On rare occasions, I’ll feel halfway productive, so I’ll have a cup of Kayla’s (watered down) coffee and actually get some work done. By “work” I mean take some photos in the studio, putz around in Photoshop, come up with amazing contest ideas, edit kitties into all our videos, and make sure our bloggers are not taking life too seriously.
When I’m not staring at a monitor, I like to stare through a lens. I’m really into filmmaking, photography, and Spongebob Squarepants. I exercise rarely, my Netfilx machine often overheats, and my cat has seven toes. I play chess, the Sims, and the guitar. My favorite director is Stanley Kubrick and I wouldn’t object to having Daniel Day Lewis’s babies one day.
Cigar: Alec Bradley Tempus!
The Alec Bradley Tempus and Alec Bradley Prensado are amazing. These were the first two cigars I had that I actually LOVED. The smoke is smooth and flavorful, and the aftertaste is amazing! I also keep my humidor fresh with Rocky Patel’s Vintage Series (’90, ’92, and ’03). Runner-ups include Oliva G, Flor de las Antillas, and Drew Estate’s Liga line.
Cutter: Colibri Slice
The Colibri Slice is pretty good at chopping caps right off, quick and easy. However, if it’s not a torpedo, I prefer a quick punch cut. I have a punch cutter on my keychain as well as a few lighters with punch cuts built-in. It’s just convenient!
Lighter: Vector KGM Quattro
I really like multi-torch butane lighters with a built-in punch cutter. An example would be the Vector KGM Quattro or the Lotus 52 Orion. Having a built-in punch cutter really saves on pocket space and is super convenient. Plus multiple torches ensures an evenly-lit cigar every time!
Humidor: Baccus 200 Count Black and Burl with a custom engraving by Tom
The Baccus 200 is beautiful, functional, and very reasonably priced. It has everything a moderate cigar smoker would need. Three slide-out drawers that hold 10-20 cigars apiece, a lockable top-chest that I use for my favorite, grab-n-go sticks, and 2 side-cabinets with shelves for my lighters, cutters, and other accessories. With the burl finish, Tom can really showcase his work with a beautiful engraving. Mine says “Badass Motherf*cker” in the fanciest of script fonts. Gotta keep it classy!
