Construction:
The rugged, veins wrapper looks out of place against the cedar slip and purple ribbon that covers the lower half of this Victor Sinclair stick. The use of Corojo tobacco for the wrapper leaf seems a bit risky for a 10th anniversary launch; although Corojo tobacco adds the strength and flavor of an old Cuban cigar, the scarcity and fragility of the Corojo leaf makes it almost impossible to produce a truly flawless wrapper. The length of the stick is overly firm with numerous hard veins underneath.
Flavor & Cold Draw:
Semi-sweet coco and black cherries dominate the pre-light aroma. The cold draw is somewhat tangy with underlying oats and barley. The first third of the smoke is a complex array of salt, citrus, and pepper. In the second third the flavor profile becomes earthy with notes of cedar and bread. The final third is a bit more intense with a noticeable, pervasive spice.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics:
The draw is very easy and open producing vast plumes of smoke. The burn is uneven with one side canoeing up about half an inch.
Conclusion:
This cigar is a wonderfully complex surprise from Victor Sinclair. At about $2.75 a stick when bought in a box this is a great value stick.
