Cigar: Liga IV
Brand: Liga IV
Line: Liga IV
Size: Almirante Corona (5.5” x 43)
Wrapper: Natural
Strength: Mild
Construction
This is by far the ugliest little cigar ever! The wrapper is a mustardy yellowish brown with some white speckles in it. The veins are thick and plentiful. The entire stick is incredibly hard and plump. The cap is thick making it easy to cut, but it is a bit off-center.
Flavor & Cold Draw
The length of the stick smells sweet and nutty. The cold draw is sweet with an after taste of pepper. Once lit it is absolutely delicious! The flavor profile is rich and complex with strong notes of sweet cream, caramel, and vanilla. There is a hint of almond and tobacco. There is a scrumptious natural sweetness throughout the smoke.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics
The draw on the Liga IV is incredibly hard and doesn’t produce a lot of smoke to begin with. The draw opens up a bit in the second third but it is still pretty tight. The burn is perfectly even and slow.
Conclusion
The Liga IV is featured in quite a few of our samplers and I always thought it was included because it was so inexpensive. It wasn’t until a customer told me that it was his favorite cigar that I actually tried it. The old saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” definitely applies here. Even though it is ugly as sin it is a tasty treat! I give it a 6.5 and recommend it for all bargain-seekers.
