Construction:
The Pinolero Robusto is a good-looking, well-constructed little cigar with a beautiful Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrapper. The wrapper leaf is a light cappuccino color with a few veins. The seams are almost invisible, perfectly blended with the natural veins of the leaf. The length of the stick is plump and nicely filled with no soft spots. The cap is nicely mounted and pulled into a taught little pigtail.
Flavor & Cold Draw:
The aromatic wrapper gives off a nice bouquet of sweet spices while the foot lends an earthy wood scent. The cold draw is clear and open and gives off a gentle flavor of wood with a hint of cocoa bean. Once lit the flavor profile is rich and complex throughout the cigar. Strong flavors of cedar, tobacco, and earth are nicely complimented by gentle undertones of black pepper, leather, and toasted nuts.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics:
The Pinolero draws perfectly and produces tons of rich, flavorful smoke. The burn is slow and easy with a total smoking time of 1 hour and 12 minutes. The burn line is perfectly even giving way to a snowy white ash that hangs on for about an inch before dropping.
Conclusion:
The Pinolero is another gem from A.J. Fernandez. It is a beautiful stick with tons of complex flavors. I paired it with a Mad Hat. I don’t usually enjoy beer but the flavors paired perfectly in this case. The cigar is a bit stronger than I was expecting and left me a little loopy so I would recommend eating before smoking.
