CAO America Monument Torpedo Cigar Construction
Part of CAO’s “world” series, the America features a Connecticut Broadleaf and Connecticut Shade barber pole wrapper. The four-country- all-ligero filler mixture contains tobacco from the USA, Dominican Republic, Italy, and Nicaragua and is bound with a Brazilian leaf. The length of the torpedo is mostly plump but with a few palpable soft spots. The cap cuts cleanly with a double blade guillotine.
Flavor & Aroma
The dual wrapper leaves give off gentle barnyard aromas along with some toasted wood. The foot produces a strong scent of barnyard vegetation with sweet spices. The cold draw is open and tastes of burnt toast. Once lit, the initial flavor profile is earthy with some cumin. Notes of burnt toast, pepper, rich tobacco, earth, and cumin prevail in the second and final thirds.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics
The CAO America Monument draws beautifully, producing thick plumes of smoke with each puff. The burn is slow, but the filler burns faster than the wrapper, leaving a bit of a tunnel. This may be due to the humidity level as the cigar only rested in my humidor for 45 days prior to smoking.
Conclusion of the CAO America Monument Torpedo Cigar
CAO’s America is a fantastic cigar, especially with the Fourth of July holiday coming up. It is definitely a medium to full strength stick, there is plenty of nicotine. The burn line was wonky but not at all problematic. The total smoking time was about an hour and forty-five minutes. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.
