I’m excited to review a cigar from the Joya De Nicaragua line. The CyB used to be known as Cuenca y Blanco, but recently they changed their name to CyB. However, The blend stayed the same and after giving this a smoke, I’m glad they didn’t mess with the mojo.
This is a really good looking stick. The colors on the band are eye-catching: Tarheel blue, red, white and gold. I have a few cigars with the old band in my humidor, and I’m smoking one of these for this review. I’ll keep a few of these around just because you won’t see that band again.
The first third of the Joya de Nicaragua Cyb tastes of oak and earth but finishes with a sweet tobacco taste that lingers. It makes loads of white smoke and has a nice even burn. The second third mellows out a bit and tastes of sweet black pepper with notes of espresso. The final third keeps this espresso taste but introduces some flavors of cedar.
People consider this is a medium to full smoke. But honestly, I would place it in the medium category. It has a very sweet profile which makes it incredibly nice to smoke. This is a good stick. I enjoyed it enough to buy a few more. When I finished this smoke I was looking for more. It’s all in all a great tasting, enjoyable, and relaxing kind of stick. I really like the Peruvian filler. I would like to see more of that, and would gladly try other cigars with Peruvian tobacco, but I don’t know of any.
Would I buy the Joya De Nicaragua Cyb again? Yes. Would I buy a box of them? Yes. Many thanks to the Joya De Nicaragua folks for making a winner. Bravo!
The Lighter: The Xikar Executive is a high quality lighter with a single flame torch and a single-action ignition. I like it because it just looks classy.
The Cutter: The Xikar Xi feels great in your hand and is easy to use. It has a spring activated release and when you push a button the cutter snaps open like a switchblade—which is just plain fun.
The Stand: The Custom Ash Siesta ensures that your cigar continues burning evenly while at rest. The Siesta comes in two finishes: black anodized and polished silver, and it’s built from a single billet, not casings, so it will outlast both the smoke and the smoker.
I’m looking to try another cigar with a Peruvian filler. Do you know of any? Thanks!
