This 5 x 50 cigar from the CAO Gold line has a Brazilian maduro wrapper and a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The wrapper is dry looking with a slightly bumpy exterior. The pre-light aroma is full of cocoa and has some notes of ceder.
The first third of the cigar is a mild to medium strength smoke. It has some cocoa notes and a very light spice on the finish. Has a very easy draw and an ash that holds up nicely.
The second third of the cigar is also mild to medium in strength and there are still notes of cocoa but some peppery flavors have been introduced as well. Overall the cigar has a very rich taste and is still really smooth.
The final third of the cigar is a bit stronger and more of a medium strength towards the end. The transitions in flavor are very smooth and the peppery flavors become much stronger at the end of the cigar. Light notes of cocoa are still present on the finish. Nice even burn with no need for a re-light. This is the kind of cigar that you can have any time of day and a Guinness would really bring out the cocoa flavors.
