Apparently there’s some kind of snow storm going on this year in the northeastern United States. Florida has its own winter weather issues too ya know. It’s not all sunshine and sandals in the Sunshine State this time of year. Just this week it almost dipped below 50°F here in Tampa. ALMOST! Can you believe that? That’s almost 20 degrees away from actually being able to snow!
Okay, okay I guess you states with subzero temperatures and 8 feet of snow win. No one has sympathy for Florida this time of year. I suppose every non-Floridian reading this has had more than his fair share of dealing with snow and it has now become more of a pest than a seasonal pal.
Well as the blizzard settles down and more snow is on the horizon everyone is looking for ways to stay warm so naturally Dr. Chris is on the case! Having received my PhD in cigarology from the prestigious Cheaphumidors Cigar University, I have compiled a list of the best cigars to smoke during a blizzard (you can become an alum too; it’s at the bottom of this page and every page on this site).
Prescription: light up one of the following toasty cigars to get warm and repeat until storm passes. Apply as often as necessary until next season arrives.
1. CAO Brazilia
What better way to take yourself away from the cold than by lighting up one of these sticks and being transported from tundra to beachfront in Rio?
A full bodied flavor cigar with a dark Brazilian wrapper, the CAO Brazilia will overwhelm your senses and help you forget all about the frozen maelstrom dumping snow all over your freshly shoveled pathway.
You’ll be too busy thinking about all the bodacious Brazilian babes that helped get this premium cigar to you, and scheming ways to go thank them personally for getting you through these glacial times. The seasons are also reversed below the Equator so if you’ve had enough winter for one year you can always follow through on those plans and ride out the rest of your winter as summer instead!
The only downside to this cigar is that it will eventually come to an end and you’ll be torn from the Amazon right back to your personal Siberia. Then again, if you have enough of these stocked up you can continue to have visions of Brazil carry you through the storm, at least until you have to trek out for more (Note: this cigar will not actually transport you to Brazil, only plane tickets can do that).
2. Heat Corojo
If Brazil isn’t toasty enough to fix your winter woes, you may want to give the Heat Corojo a shot.
This cigar is probably best accompanied by the Ohio Players, as it too is fire! Take a look, it’s even got Heat in its damn name so you know it will help you thaw out before the frostbite gets a hold. We’re talking hot as the Miami Heat with Lebron.
This medium bodied cigar is perfect if you don’t want full strength flavor but still want enough spicy and sweet notes to help you get the most out of your fireside smoking session. Just look at the band, it’s got more flames on it than decals on a tricked out GTO, not even mentioning the 400-800°C burning end of the cigar that’s only a few inches from your face!
The Heat Corojo brings the heat and does not give up until you have smoked your way back to a reasonable body temperature. Just be sure you can handle the heat so you don’t have to endure the embarrassment of having to call firemen with a blizzard going on outside, unless of course you plan to share once they save your fiery hide.
Nothin else endures as much as the American spirit. For those particularly long bouts of ceaseless frigid conditions, the Alec Bradley American Classic is the cigar to get you through. Plenty of generations of Americans have braved the coldest winters, and so can you. So why not warm yourself with the feeling of pride as you not only light up a cigar so American you can practically hear eagles screech as you open the box. Once this cigar is lit up you can laugh in the face of the winter that is infringing on your right to not contract hypothermia.
This is also a medium bodied cigar with hints of coffee flavor that is meant to be light enough for a daily smoke so it will be there the entire storm through. Winter can’t beat out this cigar. Plus the storm has to come to an end eventually and even after all the snow melts, you’ll still be able to pick yourself up a fresh pack of these Alec Bradley American Classics.
Stop letting winter push you around and take a stand by lighting up one of these cigars while staring down the storm.
You have now been armed with knowledge on how to beat the season and not let winter freeze up your good year. These cigars are sure to take your mind off the falling snow and be able to focus on the rising smoke and aroma.
The truth is, most any cigar can help you warm up through the coldest parts of winter so you should be all right as long as you have a few sticks in your arsenal. The best part is that cigars are portable and can be taken with you anywhere whether it’s outside after the snow settles or next to the fireplace with a glass of your finest scotch.
So to all of you braving the blizzard this year just remember: winter has no power over you! But if you’re still feeling overwhelmed by the cold you can always come down to Cigar City. This way you can still get to enjoy your favorite cigars AND it’s in Florida where winter barely exists! Stay toasty out there everybody!
