Is it Possible to Use More than One Humidifier in Your Humidor?

Anyone who smokes cigars, or who is thinking of taking up the pastime will need to know what a humidor is, especially if they plan to buy a number of cigars and want to keep them at home. These devices will keep the humidity level between 68% and 72%, which is ideal for cigars and will keep them at the perfect moisture. It can be difficult to keep the humidity at this level, and people are often looking for ways to ensure that they have a constant humidity level. Too many fluctuations can be bad for the cigars.

You need to understand some of the things that can cause the drop in humidity in your cigar case. If you open the case and take out cigars, then the humidity is going to drop a bit. Since the cigars can hold humidity, you might find that you are able to reach the levels you need by simply adding more cigars to it. Of course, you will need to make sure your cigar case is seasoned and ready to hold cigars first.

It is possible to add a second humidifier though. However, you have to be careful if you do this. Instead of reaching the humidity level that you want, you might suddenly have too much in your case, and that can ruin the cigars that you have. It would be similar to simply drenching them or dipping them into water, which is something that you probably wouldn’t do! Even though it’s possible to have another humidifier, you might want to explore some other options first.

You should make sure that when you are buying the case for your cigars in the first place that you buy something that’s high quality. Some people who are cigar aficionados choose to build their own, but this path is fraught with problems. If you don’t know what you are going, it can be difficult to build something that’s going to keep the humidity. You will need to add more humidifiers, but that’s not the ideal solution.

Keep watching the humidity in your case, and watch when it drops and how often it drops. If adding more cigars doesn’t help, you can always try the second humidifier, or you could simply buy a new case. Since the best cases can cost quite a bit, it’s better to try the other methods initially.

Awesome post. I have been having problems maintaining proper humidity since the cold air has kicked in. Never had this problem before, so I was convinced my humidor was broke. I was using 3 different types of humidification systems..yes, all at the same time. I decided to go with an eltectric Oasis …..(Angels singing)…. This tool is a life saver. Love lt! I maintain a constant 68-70% ,the range I like.

I’m having difficulty keeping my humidor’s humidity in the correct range. I suspect temperature variation is the culprit because we lower our house thermostat by 6 degrees at night. The air in the humidor eve tually cools down, too, shrinks, and thereby sucks in too dry house air. I’m trying to find out if my theory is correct, and what to do about it.

First, the humidor absorb humidity if not prepared properly, second is the seal of your humidor ok?

Then I use the polymer crystals, I use 4 tubes in my first humidor,it holds about 75 Churchills. Each tubes can take care of 25 cigars. So you should alway go over. If you have 100 cigars I would put 5 tubes.
So for it holds humidity level to 68-9 I refill the tubes weekly with distiller water. If you don’t open the humidor you should be able to leave it alone for a month easy. But I have been reading that cigars need to take a walk on a regular basis. So you should take them out regularly. I use one tube and a small Chrystal tub in my second humidor. But I only have 25 cigars in that one. I see the same performance in the second one. Changing the temperature by 5 degrees should not affect the humidity if the humidor is in good shape.
