Hi I’m Nada with SmokingCigarGirl and today I’m going to be reviewing the Xikar HC Maduro Churchill. This is a 7 inch by 48 ring gauge cigar with a Nicaraguan shaped grown criollo wrapper, Nicaraguan sun grown criollo binder and filler is from Nicaragua and Honduras. The cigar has a slightly toothy wrapper and a little bit mottled as well. The foot of the cigar has a very distinct cocoa aroma and the pre-light is earthy with some cocoa as well.
The first couple of puffs have a little bit of salt and pepper on the front of the palate and a little bit of woodiness on the finish. I’ll be back in a few minutes to discuss the first third of the cigar.
The First Third of the Xikar HC Maduro
The first third of the cigar has some earthy and nutty flavors on the front of the palate and the finish has a little bit of pepper and some lingering nutty flavors. The burn on this cigar has been very even but the draw is a little tough so far.
The Second Third of the Xikar HC Maduro
The second third of this cigar has picked up more nutty notes on the front of the palate and those notes continue into the finish of the cigar. Where the peppery flavors have really calmed down a bit and more of the saltiness is coming through. The cigar is continuing to burn well and the draw has really opened up in the second third.
The Final Third of the Xikar HC Maduro
The final third of the Xikar HC Maduro introduces some lightly sweet notes and chocolatey notes on the front of the palate in addition to the nutty notes. The nutty notes continue to be present on the finish and the pepper has returned with more of an intensity in the finish as well. The cigar’s draw has opened up to a great spot in the final third. And the burn has been very even and consistent throughout the whole cigar. I haven’t needed to touch up or relight the cigar at all. The cigar produces large volumes of smoke, which I know a lot of you enjoy. It kind of waits a little bit in the first third but as the draw opened up, the billowy smoke continued on with the cigar.
Conclusion of the Xikar HC Maduro
The cigar overall has a medium body and a medium strength so it’s really a good anytime of day cigar, probably afternoon, or first cigar of the evening.
