Hi I’m Nada with Smoking Cigar Girl, and today I’m going to be reviewing the Cohiba Black Robusto. This is a five and a half by fifty cigar with a Connecticut broad leaf wrapper, Dominican Piloto Cubano Binder, and Dominican Piloto Cubano and San Andreas Mexican filler. The cigar has a somewhat oily wrapper, is somewhat toothy, and no visible veins. There’s an earthy aroma, and also a somewhat sweet aroma, off the foot of the cigar. And, there’s a slight licorice flavor on the cold draw. There’s some distinct sweetness, a little bit of licorice on the first few puffs, and also a little bit of spice. I’ll be back in a few minutes to discuss the first third of the cigar.
The first third of the cigar has had some licorice and cinnamon flavors and just some general sweetness overall. The finish has had a touch of spice. The cigar has had a mostly even burn so far. Good draw and the ash has been holding on since the beginning of the smoke.
The second third of the cigar has introduced some coffee and earthy flavors on the front of the palate. The finish continues to have a touch of sweetness, a little bit of herbal flavor, and a little bit of spice. The burn and the draw continue to be good in the cigar.
The final third of this Cohiba Black Robusto started off with some of the sweetness that was present in the first third of the cigar. The flavors then evolve into more of a toasty flavor on the front of the palate and the mixture of herbs, pepper, and wood on the finish. The cigar has been a medium to full bodied cigar with lots of rich flavors throughout the smoke, and a medium strength cigar so it would be a good after-dinner smoke. The draw and burn on the cigar have been great. No issues there. I haven’t had to relight or touch up the cigar at all.
