Soon, it will be Thanksgiving, that special holiday where we get together with family and enjoy way too much food for dinner. Other great Thanksgiving traditions are watching a football game after the festive meal and/or taking a nap.
For me, the best way to cap off a large, heavy meal is with a full-bodied, strong cigar. Since Thanksgiving is a special time of year, perhaps it’s also a good time for a treat with a special cigar that you don’t normally smoke.
Here’s Top 10 Cigars to Smoke After Thanksgiving Dinner:
1. Arturo Fuente Hemingway
The Hemingway cigar line is a classic. There are vitolas for every taste and some blends that you only see around the holidays. These cigars are well- balanced and have great flavor.
2. Arturo Fuente Don Carlos
The Don Carlos line is a step up from the Hemingway and can be a little stronger and fuller bodied. These cigars are always a wonderful treat for me.
Another cigar rolled by Arturo Fuente for J.C. Newman. This line is one of the more full-bodied cigars that they offer and would be a great compliment after a large meal.
4. AVO Domaine
Avo Uvezian is a legend on piano and in the cigar industry. His cigars are some of the finest made and his limited editions are sought after by aficionados. The AVO Domaine is a collaboration between Avo and Henkie Kellner of Davidoff fame.
5. La Gloria Cubana Cigars Serie R
La Gloria Cubana is one of the best brands offered by General Cigar. The Serie R is a classic cigar that I have enjoyed many times. It is certainly one of my go to blends that I keep in my humidor.
Full-bodied blends are a hallmark of the Tatuaje line. Tatuaje was created by Pete Johnson in collaboration with Don Pepin Garcia. Wildly popular, you just can’t go wrong with this brand.
7. La Aurora Preferidos Tubos
I love these cigars for their presentation as much as their flavor. The “Treasure Box” sampler has one of each of the five blends that comprise the Preferidos line. Keep this in mind as a great gift for the holidays as well.
8. Joya de Nicaragua
Selections such as the Antaño and Fuerte blends are a couple of their best offerings. They are full-bodied with great flavors and construction. These cigars are a wonderful representation of Nicaraguan tobaccos.
9. Carlos Toraño Exodus 1959 50 Years
The “copper label” blend is one of the strongest and fullest bodied cigars that Toraño makes. It’s long, lingering finish is just one of the characteristics that make this cigar one of my favorites.
10. Drew Estate Liga Privada Undercrown
The Undercrown is less expensive than some of the other Liga’s. But, it shares some of the same great flavors and smoking characteristics of the higher priced and sometimes harder to find vitolas. This cigar produces a tremendous amount of satisfying smoke and brings forth complex, enjoyable flavors that create an excellent smoking experience.
Any one of these selections would make for a great ending to a wonderful holiday meal. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving and happy smoking!Top 10 Cigars to Smoke After Thanksgiving Dinner by Tom Ufer
