The Dona Flor Puro Blend features a smooth, chocolate brown wrapper with minimal veins. The cigar is well rolled and plump. There is a bit of a soft spot towards the foot and the cap is a bit skewed.
Flavor & Cold Draw:
The length of the cigar smells strongly of delicious cocoa and wet earth. The cold draw is gentle with hints of vegetation and a bit of tanginess on the tongue. The first third is notably spicy with soft undertones of tobacco, earth, and cedar. The flavor profile develops a subtle sweetness in the second third, ending with a pleasant cocoa finish.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics:
The draw is smooth and easy, producing plentiful plumes of smoke. Despite the soft spot in the foot, the cigar burns uniformly. The ash is dark grey and firm, growing to over an inch before the first drop.
The Dona Flor Puro Blend is a tasty little stogy with an admirable build. Every Dona Flor brand cigar I have smoked has burned flawlessly. The Puro blend could do with a bit more complexity and depth but is overall a very pleasant smoke. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.
