Line: Estilo Cubano
Size: Matador (6.5 x 56)
Wrapper: Viso Habano Maduro
Filler: Seco Habano and Ligero Habano
The Estilo Cubano features a striking Viso Habano Maduro wrapper that is the color of dark chocolate. The wrapper is nearly flawless with very few veins. The entire stick is plump and well filled with no weak or soft spots.
Flavor & Cold Draw Notes
The wrapper has a rich, semi-sweet scent with a hint of peppery fire. The foot gives a strong smell of sweet tobacco and earth. The cold draw is woodsy with flavors of oak and cedar with an after taste of pleasant spice. The Maduro wrapper imparts a slightly sweet initial flavor and leaves a tingle of pepper on the tongue.
The draw is clear and easy and the stick burns evenly throughout the smoke. The ash is a salty white and hangs on for a good inch and a half. Each puff is complex with notes of oak, nuts, cedar, spice and the slightest hint of coffee beans. The Maduro wrapper lends a gentle sweetness to the profile. I paired the Estilo Cubano with a shot of Patron Café which was a perfect partner as it brought out the subtle nuances of the cigar.
This was clearly a very well-made and well-blended cigar. There were no imperfections in the wrapper and the stick burned beautifully. The flavor profile was pleasantly complex with a mix of sweet and spicy. Even though it is a very strong cigar there was no bitterness or harshness. I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10 and definitely recommend it as a staple in your humidor.
