So you have to find a cigar gift for the stogie lover in your life? Whether it be for a birthday, anniversary, sorry I ate your leftovers or everything in between, you want to give a gift that is unique and special. And come on, how many cutters, lighters and cigar accessories can you really get somebody? What if you’re not sure what flavors they prefer in their cigar, or what type of cutter they use? Rather than trying to discretely ask them cigar related questions a month before Christmas without giving away your gift idea, there are some unconventional gifts that you haven’t thought of before. We have compiled a list of the Top 5 Unique Cigar Gifts that your recipient is sure to love, and you are sure to love giving.
Cigar Band Pens
At the top of our list are pens made from cigar bands, which is a gift item that can be easily overlooked. Hey, it’s something you use everyday. How many times are you asking people around you if they have a pen you can borrow? I know, it’s also a sore spot because your favorite pen was also stolen or “borrowed” and never returned. Well, if you’re a cigar lover and you upgrade to a cigar band pen, maybe you’ll be extra careful with who you allow to use it.
Did you know that 9 out of 10 of the most successful people in the world carry their own pen? I am not talking about your standard Bic, or clicky pen, I am talking about beautiful hand crafted ballpoint pens. The kind of pen you see in a law or realty office.
Pens come in all shapes and sizes, but my personal favorites are hand crafted cigar band pens from Stephen Breazeale. Stephen takes actual cigar bands and attaches them to the body of the pen and protects it with 20 coats of acrylic. The finished product is beautiful and a wonderful conversation piece, and would be the perfect gift for any cigar lover.
Cigar Band Jewelry
How do you show the world your love of cigars when you aren’t puffing away? Cigar band jewelry of course. What better way to express yourself in style, especially in a no-smoking zone? There are many artisans who take cigar bands and through black magic, voodoo, and some elbow grease, they make some amazing jewelry.
One such artist is Jennifer Bivens, who through her Sticks Cigar City Art Store on Etsy transforms colorful cigar bands into beautiful jewelry.
Jennifer’s creations are not only stylish, but can be worn by men or women. What is really cool is that she takes special requests, so if you really want a Swisher Sweet necklace, she can probably make it for you. Here’s an opportunity for you to take your friend’s favorite cigar brand and give them a stylish piece of jewelry to showcase it on. Of course if you’re creative, you can always try making some cigar band jewelry pieces yourself. If we did it, you can do it too. Just requires a little more patience. Here’s one of our recent creations: The Flor de las Antillas heart necklace.
Cigar Store Indians
Remember when you were a kid and your grandpappy would take you to the local five-and-dime to pick up his favorite cigars and they had that huge cigar Indian standing near the entrance? How sweet would one of those look in your gift recipients man cave, or bathroom? Okay, I know what you’re thinking – it’s like one of those strange butlers that people have in their homes and it can be kind of creepy. But if you have a man cave room or area, a cigar Indian can look pretty cool in that space, especially if you have some unique antique pieces in there already.
While I haven’t found any cigar Indians on Etsy, you can just head on over to eBay to find a plethora of cigar store Indians for the picking. While some antique cigar store Indians can sell for as much as $50,000, you can get a real nice one for a few hundred that will not only look awesome, but also scare away would be intruders.
Personalized Cigar Band Shadow Box
Does your cigar smoking friend have a lot of cigar bands that they just don’t know what to do with? Instead of throwing them away, how about a super classy way to display them for the world to see. Introducing the Cigar Band Shadow Box.
What is a shadow box you ask? Basically a three dimensional picture frame that you can hang on the wall, or rest on the counter. The super cool part is that the top slides open to allow you to put your cigar bands inside, and you can engrave the front to personalize it.
There are some super colorful and intricately designed cigar bands out there that deserved to be displayed in a shadow box. Another unique gift item that will have friends and family asking where you purchased it.
Our shop on Etsy has tons of different designs available for the Cigar Band Shadow Box. Check them out and give a unique cigar gift that will be cherished for years.
Personalized Cigar Signs
Signs, signs, everywhere a sign. While there might be a plethora of signs you come across in your daily life, I bet the cigar smoker on your list doesn’t have a personalized cigar sign hanging in their man cave. And if they do, why not purchase them another one? Here’s an idea, they can make a gallery wall and mix in the cigar signs with some personal smoking pictures. That would be pretty cool actually.
If you’ve browsed on Etsy before, you know that there is no shortage of handmade signs. Cigar signs come in all shapes, sizes and colors. From brand names of their favorite cigar manufacturers, to old time tobacco ads.
One of the most unique however is a sign that is personalized just for your recipient. One of my favorite cigar signs is from The Lizton Sign Shop on Etsy. Their signs are handcrafted and made in the USA, and they look freaking awesome!
Sure, a humidor gift set is always an awesome idea. Check out our Holiday Humidor and Accessories Combo that we just released as part of the 12 deals of Christmas. However, if you have a cigar smoking friend who has several humidors full of his favorite sticks, and a stack of cigar accessories, what options do you have left? Sometimes you gotta think outside the box and give them something that is a little more unique. A gift that they will remember for years to come and look back and say, that was one of my favorite gifts that I’ve ever received.Top 5 Unique Cigar Gifts by David Sabot
