Now that we are less than 10 days away from this year’s show, we thought we’d take a minute to explain a little bit about the IPCPR convention to those who might be new to the hobby or have heard of IPCPR but maybe never knew what it was. Leave us a comment and let us know if you’ll be there this year!
For the last 80 years, the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers of America have held an annual convention and trade show. As a five-day event, this trade show is the premier event of the year for all of its members. The IPCRP convention and Trade Show has developed into the optimal marketplace for many manufacturers of tobacco products, including cigars/cigarettes, as well as for a multitude of cigar and pipe accessories.
The IPCRP Trade Show is an opportune convention for participating companies that want to show case their new and existing products to members that own and operate tobacco shops. Used as a way to gain attention of its visitors, the IPCRP tradeshow attracts many tobacco-manufacturing companies that actively compete with each other in an extremely encouraging atmosphere. Many of these companies use the trade show to gather valuable wholesaling and retailing information from members as a way to develop their future business strategies.
Exhibits and Booths
With a trade show setup of over 270 exhibitors, and more than 1300 booths, visiting members can experience their favorite brands and products, while being exposed to new tobacco product lines. At most of the exhibitor booths, members can view a wide display of premium tobacco products available both locally and internationally. It is truly the only place on Earth each year to experience all the latest and hottest tobacco products and accessories at one location.
Visiting IPCRP members can attend a variety of informational and educational seminars throughout the weekend, including the basics of operating a successful tobacco business. Additionally, entertaining and informative seminars are available on optimizing the smoking experience by blending a variety of tobaccos and distilled beverages.
The IPCRP trade show offers valuable information on using social media, including Facebook and Twitter, to promote and interact with customers. Members can learn effective strategies for marketing their business to a wider audience, using creative ways to target new potential customers.
Gala Opening Reception
Each year at the IPCRP Convention and Trade Show, visiting members participate in a Gala Opening Reception on the first night of the long weekend event. Cocktails, appetizers and other refreshments are offered as an encouragement to mingle with old friends and make new ones. This weekend kickoff is considered the major highlight at the beginning of the convention and trade show.
The following morning brings with it the annual IPCRP Meeting and Breakfast. All attending members are asked to participate in a one-on-one dialogue with the IPCRP and gather information about innovative services and programs, legislative advocacy and the goals of the organization for the upcoming year. A free lunch is offered to every member each day, providing a significant savings to the attendees.
Entertainment and Free Prizes
The IPCRP provides quality entertainment throughout the long weekend, by offering things like a silent auction and a raffle and a long list of door prize giveaways. Every year, visiting members are encouraged to participate in a silent auction that offers valuable prizes including merchandise and trips. Upon registering, every member is given the opportunity to participate in a raffle that helps offset his or her costs of attending the event in the coming year, and many vendors participate in the numerous door prize giveaways.
Without a doubt, the IPCRP Convention and Trade Show is the biggest event for the premium cigar industry. Dedicated tobacconists flock to the convention every year to discover the exciting new merchandise that is currently coming to market. As each year builds upon the next, this year’s convention should be the best one yet.The Annual IPCPR Convention and International Tradeshow by David Sabot
