Neil Armstrong, one of the leading men of space exploration; a man who has seen the world as just a small blue marble from light-years away.
In an exclusive CheapHumidors.com interview he told us that as he looked back on his NASA missions, what he will forever remember was his most trusty tool, The Ashtro Standing Cigar Ashtray.
It was no surprise to us that this was a space worthy ashtray.
This ashtray has quite a sturdy base. Neil confessed to us that he originally planted the Ashtro Ashtray on the moon first but they photo shopped the American Flag there instead saying it would get more likes on the NASA Facebook (we all disagreed).
He also told us that the other astronauts were pretty concerned when they first heard that Neil was a cigar smoker. They found this out in training when they enter the space simulator all they could smell was cigar smoke.
But what they worried about most was that the cigar ashes would end up floating all over the spaceship making it's way into their stockpile of Tang and moon food. But they were quickly relieved when Neil told them about the built in ash receptacle that would dump the ashes into another compartment containing the ashes even in anti-gravity situations.
His eyes beamed when he went into the details, "twenty inches tall, it was the perfect height to stand next to my captain's chair, and with only one stirrup I never had to share."
We can not say for sure but he did hint that the spaceship was actually built around the Ashtro Ashtray.
If you listen to the original space landing tape closely you can hear that Neil actually says "That's one small step for cigars and one giant leap for ashtrays."
You were right Neil. You were completely right.
